Information on State Examination of Medical Doctor (LEP) and State Examination of Dental Doctor (LDEP)
Next LDEP will be held on February 3rd and next LEP - on February 25rd.
Attention:
LEP and LDEP are test examinations organized twice a year. Each consists of 200 multiple choice questions. LEP includes questions on:
- internal medicine - 39 questions
- pediatrics (incl. neonatology) - 29 questions
- surgery - 27 questions
- family medicine - 20 questions
- obstetrics and gynaecology - 26 questions
- emergency medicine, intensive therapy - 20 questions
- psychiatry - 14 questions
- bioethics, medical law - 10 questions
- medical certification - 7 questions
- public health - 8 questions
There are at least 20 questions on oncology among questions on internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, and family medicine.
LDEP includes questions on:
- endodontics & restorative dentistry - 46 questions
- pedodontology - 35 questions
- surgical stomatology - 25 questions
- prosthodontics - 25 questions
- periodontology - 14 questions
- orthodontics - 20 questions
- emergency medicine - 10 questions
- bioethics, medical law - 10 questions
- medical certification - 7 questions
- public health - 8 questions
There are at least 20 questions on oncology among questions on endodontics, pedodontology, surgical stomatology, periodontology, and orthodontics.

Passing LEP or LDEP is necessary to obtain license to practice medicine or dentistry in Poland, respectively, for those who graduated from a polish medical school.
Thus, as there is a considerable group of doctors who have completed their studies in English, it is possible (from September 2008) to take LEP or LDEP also in English. Important: only those who graduated from a polish medical university after studies in English can take LEP or LDEP in English. Another important point is that it is necessary to obtain limited license to practice medicine (or dentistry) in Poland before the examination day. Those licenses are granted by Regional Medical Chambers.
The first step to take LEP or LDEP is to fill the application form on our website. The form for medical doctors (LEP) can be found here and for dental doctors (LDEP) - here. After successful submission, the application should be printed out, signed, and send to Regional Medical Chamber. It is not necessary to possess the license to practice at this time.
The deadline for submissions is May 31st for examinations in September and October 31st for examinations in February.
